Omalia Village guesthouse, which opened for the first time in 2014, is the first hotel investment in the picturesque village of Krioneria thus paving the way for further development of tourism in the region. It was built with stone from the region as the, main element, in a position of great natural beauty. The name of the guesthouse comes from the plateau of Omalia, which extends to the northeast of Krioneria, between the villages Elatovrisi, Elatou and Grigoria. The guest house consists of 19 independent stone apartments and a main building, while in the middle there is a lovely swimming pool which “breaks” the sovereignty of stone. The architecture is such that it looks like an independent village, surrounded by towering mountains and firs, as it is situated at the lowest point of Krioneria. The construction shows respect to the traditional character of the village as well as the natural environment, as it is a green unit which is characterized by the significant energy conservation because it uses electricity generated by renewable sources and recycled water for irrigation in the surrounding area. The newfound environmental awareness and the application of simple steps in saving energy, water and recycling make our guesthouse stand out. It is a modern “green” hotel complex which was constructed according to strict principles of thermal insulation.
