The “Xerokampos” is a coastal settlement in the eastern coast of Crete between Zakros and Goudouras. Belongs in district Lefki and is only 50km from the town of Sitia. In Xerokampos at site “Farmakokefalo”, near the chapel of St. Nicholas, have been found many ancient ruins. Systematic excavations have revealed a small but significant part of a Hellenistic city surrounded by a strong wall which width reached almost 2.5 meters. Also came to light houses with many rooms, squares and streets of the time. Across the bay of Xerokambos there are 2 small islands called “Kavali”.
